World's Longest Bridges | 25 Longest Bridges In The World

Saratov BridgeTrying to determine the longest bridge in the world is no easy task. In the past several years there have been numerous “measurement wars” fought over the length of Earth’s longest bridges. The primary reason for this is that it’s hard to define what exactly constitutes a bridge. Does it have to be over water? Are elevated road ways bridges? What if only part of the bridge is over water? Although these are legitimate questions if you are competing for a Guinness World Record, for our purposes we will not discriminate against any particular type of bridge. So with that said, these are the 25 longest bridges in the world.

Top 20 Roads You Should Drive in Your Lifetime

Maggie Zhang and Jill Comoletti | Business Insider

People love using the popular phrase "It's the journey, not the destination."
There are millions of miles of roads in the world, and some of these roads provide incredible views of the surrounding landscape. Sometimes, the roads themselves are a work of art.

We've come up with the ultimate list of the world's most beautiful roads to prove that sometimes the journey is much more captivating than the destination. These roads range from Oceanside cruises in Hawaii to treacherous hairpin turns in the Swiss Alps.

1. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs from North Carolina to Virginia and is known for its views of rugged mountains and the Appalachian Highlands.

2. Along the beautiful Great Ocean Road in Australia, you can find the famous limestone stacks called the Twelve Apostles, whale lookouts, rain forests, and beautiful national parks.

3. The Oberalp Pass in Switzerland is a mountain road in the Swiss Alps that is 6,706 feet above sea level. The road is only open during the summer, but in the winter you can take a train ride across the pass.

4. Scenic Byway 163 stretches from the Arizona border through Monument Valley in Utah. During the 45-mile drive, you'll be able to admire the beautiful red rocks and desert.

5. Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia is one of the most scenic drives in Canada, winding around the greater part of Cape Breton Island and offering views of both the woods and the ocean. Make sure to glance at the water every once in a while — you might spot a pod of whales swimming past.

6. The long, remote A82 Road in Glencoe, Scotland, brings you breathtaking scenic spaces and wonderful sights like the Rannoch Moor Bridge.

7. The Overseas Highway in Florida connects mainland Florida to the Florida Keys and consists of 42 overseas bridges across 113 miles. You'll feel like you're driving on the surface of the ocean. Try to catch a sunrise or a sunset, as the sun casts a beautiful reflection on the water.

8. Jebel Hafeet Mountain Road in Abu Dhabi leads to Jebel Hafeet Mountain, the second-tallest mountain in the United Arab Emirates. The road winds through the craggy limestone making up the mountain until it reaches the summit. Try to take this drive in late afternoon so you can catch the sunset from the top of the mountain.

9. The Trollstigen road in Norway means "troll ladder," and that name is very fitting for this extremely narrow and steep winding road. If you make it to the top, you'll be rewarded with views of the Stigfossen waterfall, a 1,050-foot waterfall that tumbles over the mountains.

10. Ruta 40 stretches more than 3,000 miles, from Argentina's northern border to its southern tip. It crosses 18 rivers and passes 20 national parks, making it a perfect scenic drive.

11. Hana Highway in Hawaii travels along Maui's coastline and consists of 620 sharp turns and 59 bridges. You'll experience a variety of views, including waterfalls, rain forests, and, of course, the ocean.

12. The North Yungas Road in Bolivia is beautiful but also known as the world's most dangerous road because of its single lanes, tight turns, and steep drop-offs.

13. Col de l'Iseran in France is the highest paved road in the Alps. This scenic route is open only in the summer and has been used several times in the Tour de France.

14. Chapman's Peak Drive in South Africa is about five miles long with 114 curves and offers stunning 180-degree views of both mountain and sea.

15. India's Rohtang Pass offers a spectacular view of glaciers, peaks and rivers. Be warned — it's also known for its massive landslides.

16. The Atlantic Road in Norway stretches across seven bridges and offers a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean. If you drive in calmer weather, you might even see whales and seals.

17. The Interstate 70, which runs through Utah, is most beautiful in winter, especially when it winds its way through the snow-covered Spotted Wolf Canyon.

18. The Karakorum Highway was bulldozed in the 1960s and '70s and now connects Pakistan and China.

19. The Milford Road in New Zealand winds for 144 miles through Fiordland National Park, in the heart of the Southern Alps. It also connects to Milford Sound, one of the filming locations for the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

20. The Valley of Fire Road in Nevada passes through beautiful red sandstone formations that look like they are on fire when reflecting the sun.

"According to reports, one in every two online real estate searches is to buy property and there is a USD 43 billion market opportunity here. We started selling homes through our own website last year in December and have already sold over 600 units.
This partnership will help us take that to the next level," Tata Housing Development Company (THDC) Senior Vice President Marketing and Sales A Harikesh told reporters here.

Tata Value Homes, a subsidiary of Tata Housing Development Company, will continue to sell through its own portal as well.
Upon possession of the house, customers buying the house through Snapdeal will get Rs 10,000 per month for a year as an assured rent (whether they stay on premise or lease it out) as part of the deal.

Customers will have to register themselves on Snapdeal before making a booking, which opens on August 28.

"Details about the project and other things are shared on the website. Registered users can book a unit for Rs 30,000 and then our offline team takes over," he said.

However, the booking amount is not refundable in case the customer does not buy the house.

"We already have close to 50,000 merchants on our board. I think real estate, as a category, will do well on our platform is because people trust our brand. We want to offer our customers the best deals," Snapdeal co-founder and CEO Kunal Bahl said.

Harikesh said the company also plans to launch new projects in Kolkata and Delhi-NCR before March 2015, which may also get added to the deal.

"We are looking at a long term association with Snapdeal. While the Rs 10,000 offer is valid for a week, we will continue to sell through them after that too. Units will get added as and when they come up," he added.

Right Panty for You: How to Choose the Right Panty That Suits Your Body Type

Picking a right pair of panties is as essential as buying a perfect dress for yourself. Many women do not pay heed to some minor details while choosing underwear. After all, it is just underwear, what can go wrong? Right size and material is all that matters. This is what many of you think, right?

Well, think again! You should always buy a panty according to your body type. Wrong panties are equally capable of ruining your entire look as is any bad hairdo or dress. Extremely tight ones might create bulges around your waist, which will look awkward if you are wearing a body hugging dress. Similarly, loose ones can create impressions of the folds over your trousers.

So, to avoid any such mistakes in the future, read on to know about the types of panties, and what suits your body type.

    1. Bikini

It is an ideal beachwear, which almost every woman wants to wear to flaunt her body. The bikini panty provides lesser coverage as compared to a brief, but more coverage than the thong. It is the ideal underwear for low cut jeans. Available in both low cut and high cut, it complements the curvy hips, flat tummies and moderately size bottoms. This type suits best to the hourglass and inverted triangle shaped figures. However, the ones with slightly heavier bottom can don the high rise bikini panty that has laced waistbands.

    2. String bikini

As the name suggests, the only thing which makes string bikini different from the traditional one, is its thin strings on the sides. These strings make the panties look even sexier. Women with straight body, i.e., having not much difference in their shoulders, waist, and hips, should opt for this type. These tie-side bottoms give illusion of curves.

    3. Thong

A small triangular panty that only covers the front area and leaves the rear uncovered, is called the thong. It is liked for the lack of coverage and is definitely not for shy type of women. Women with cellulite or droopy bottoms should avoid wearing them. But if you have a body that is firm and moderately sized, then go for it. The most popular types of thong that you can choose from are G-String and C-String. Just make sure you choose the ones in which you would feel comfortable.

    4. Boyshorts

Boyshorts or boylegs is the female version of boxers. Low waistline, fitted crotch, elastic waistband, and comfortably fitting bottom, is what boyshorts is all about. And the best part is that it can be worn by any body type. However, simple boyshorts can appear little bulky beneath well fitted clothes. But, you can try slim and lacy boyshorts underneath such clothes.

    5. Briefs

The most comfortable and commonly worn panties by women of all age group are briefs. Here are the reasons behind its popularity. Firstly, it covers the crotch and rear area. And secondly, it can fit in any size, body shape and health. The best way to pick up a brief is to look for right kind of cut and material. Although, cotton fabric panties are comfortable, but one can also choose from nylon, rayon, or polyester, depending upon their choice. And in case, you are looking for briefs to hide your tummy fat, you can then choose from high-cut briefs (French cut) and control briefs.

Ladies, now you know the types of underwear available in the market. So, just figure out what your body shape is, and pick up the right pair for yourself. Make sure you make the selection in a way that your panty makes you feel both-comfortable as well as sexy.

An Unforgettable Cruise Trip in Ganges River India - From Patna to Varanasi on river Ganga

India's biggest export to Japan till date is Buddhism. From now on, the people from the Land of the Rising Sun will find a new connect with India's spiritual capital Varanasi through the Ganga. On September 6, a group of Japanese tourists will be boarding a luxury cruise - 'MV Rajmahal' - for an unforgettable trip from Patna to Varanasi.

"The first group of 30 Japanese tourists is looking to explore India differently this time. Even in the second group, the number of Japanese tourists far exceeds other travellers," Managing Director of Assam Bengal Navigation Ashish Phookan said.

"Those who missed out on the twin cruise have already booked for a ride in the next year. Two groups of Japanese tourists have already booked the cruise for the next year,'' Phookan told MAIL TODAY. Six trips from Patna to Varanasi and Varanasi to Patna are planned for the next year, he added.

    RajMahal-cruise-ship-room

Costing less than USD 2,000 (Rs.1.20 lakh approx.), the foreign tourists can enjoy the cruise on the Ganga in luxurious suites for seven nights. The actual travel cost is USD 1,400-1,500.

The rest will go for pampering the travellers with spa sessions, massages on board, shopping and liquor while they visit the tourist spots on the route through eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The 'MV Rajmahal' has 22 air-conditioned, spacious cabins spread over two decks.

    RajMahal-cabin-view

Large windows give an unrestricted view of the Ganga and its banks. In addition to a spa, saloon and a dining room offering multi-cuisines, there is a large sundeck where the travellers can enjoy sunsets and rural Indian panorama while relaxing on sun loungers and deck chairs.

The cruise has 22 air-conditioned, spacious cabins. Large windows give an unrestricted view of the Ganga and its banks.During the seven-day trip as one sails from Varanasi, the first day is within the limits of the Holy City as the cruise will stop at the Mughal era Chuna Fort and then, the British cemetery followed by sail to Ramnagar to see the Maharaja Palace and end the day with the Ganga aarti. As one sails for Patna, the tourists can visit the Buddhist site Sarnath, Sher Shah Suri's Sasaram Fort and Buxar. While in Bihar, the visitors can make a day trip to nearby Nalanda or Bodh Gaya.

The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) plans to operate more cruise sails from next year provided the water level permits such trips. "At the moment, we will operate six trips between Varanasi and Patna for just 45 days between September 6 and October 20. We hope that with the possibility of maintaining the required depth in the Ganga, we can invite more vessels for cruise on this route and can even consider extending the itinerary up to Allahabad,'' IWAI Chairperson Amitabh Verma said.

    Frequency

Increasing the cruise frequency will also depend on how much time after sunset can be used for sailing, Verma said, adding that night navigation facilities and river information system, including GPS, are not available with them at present to keep track of the sailing vessel.

"We need to fix these issues by the next year to go big with our plans as the demand for river cruises is rising,'' he said.

The 'MV Rajmahal' had its first glitch-free recce of the route from Patna side on August 22 and reached Varanasi on August 31. Perhaps for the first time in history, a vessel of this proportion cruised past the Varanasi ghats and sailed up to the Chunar Fort in UP's Mirzapur district.

World's Top 10 - Best Airports List of top Best 10 in the world...

Here is the list of the world's best airports, based on the 2013 World Airport Awards, announced in the month of April'2013 by leading airline reviewer Skytrax.

The awards, which include categories for best terminal, shopping, security, cleanliness, dining, and more, are determined by public opinion. More than 12 million people responded to this year's survey.

    10. London Heathrow Airport (Yearly passengers: 70 million)

Why it's awesome: Despite London Mayor Boris Johnson's concern that Heathrow gives visitors "a terrible impression of the UK," the overcrowded airport made it into Skytrax's top ten.

The third busiest airport in the world in 2012, it took home the awards for Best Airport Shopping and Best Airport Terminal, for T5, which opened in 2008 after a $6.2 billion, 19-year design and construction process.

Heathrow's Skytrax review includes four or five out of five star rankings for ease of use, flight information, public transport, security staff efficiency, and more.

    9. Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) (Yearly passengers: 66.8 million)

Why it's awesome: Haneda moved up five places this year, partly thanks to how clean it is. With a third, international terminal that opened in 2010, Haneda can accommodate 90 million passengers annually.

More construction is already in the works: The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced plans to expand the new terminal with eight more gates, more parking, and a hotel, by March 2014.

The airport won the Skytrax awards for Best Airport Terminal Cleanliness and World's Best Domestic Airport, and took second place for Best Airport Immigration Service.

    8. Vancouver International Airport (Yearly passengers: 17.6 million)

Why it's awesome: The least busy airport in the Skytrax top ten, Vancouver International offers visitors a large collection of Pacific Northwest Coast Native art.

Skytrax named Vancouver International the Best Airport in North America for the fourth year in a row in 2013, a streak that justifies the $1.4 billion the airport spent on recent expansion.

Volunteers, known as Green Coat Ambassadors, work in the airport to help travelers get where they're going.

    7. Zurich Airport (Yearly passengers: 24.8 million)

Why it's awesome: The largest international airport in Switzerland, Zurich was significantly expanded in 2003, with a new terminal and an underground, automated train called the Skymetro to shuttle travelers around.

Located 7 miles north of the Zurich city center, this airport also won Best Airport Baggage Delivery in Europe.

The airport offers a porter service where travelers pay a fee to have their bag picked up from anywhere in the airport and delivered to their final destination.

    6. Munich Airport (Yearly passengers: 38.4 million)

Why it's awesome: Germany's second busiest airport features aesthetically pleasing terminals on the walk to the gate. Many of the walls and ceilings are made of glass, making the airport feel large and open.

The airport, a 45 minute train ride from the Munich city center, was also named the best in Central Europe, and the World's Best Airport for Dining.

    5. Beijing Capital International Airport (Yearly passengers: 81.9 million)

Why it's awesome: Already beyond its 78 million passenger annual capacity, Beijing Capital is the busiest airport in Asia and the second busiest in the world, trailing only Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson.

That's why the city is building another airport, which will be bigger than JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark combined.

Capital's tallest building, Terminal 3, came in fifth for Best Airport Terminal. It opened in 2008, in time for the Beijing Olympics.

Capital also took second place for Best Baggage Delivery.

    4. Hong Kong International Airport (Yearly passengers: 56.1 million)

Why it's awesome: Located less than five flying hours from half of the world's population, Hong Kong's airport is one of the busiest in the world.

It didn't win any awards, but it landed in the top five for dining, shopping, cleanliness, and leisure amenities.

In March 2012, the airport decided to add a third runway to increase its capacity.

Hong Kong International also offers a nine-hole golf course, a great place for travelers to spend long layovers.

    3. Amsterdam Schiphol (Yearly passengers: 51 million)

Why it's awesome: Schiphol opened in 1916 as a military airfield and has now transformed into one of the busiest airports in the world.

While travelers wait for their flight departures, they can enjoy a massage, play a game of poker at the casino, and catch up on some reading at the airport library.

According to Skytrax, Schiphol also has excellent dining and shopping options.

    2. Incheon International Airport (Yearly passengers: 39.2 million)

Why it's awesome: Incheon, the largest airport in South Korea, serves passengers on more than 70 airlines, and is one of only three airlines to receive a five-star overall rating from Skytrax.

Every year from 2005 to 2012, it was rated as the world's top airport by Airports Council International.

The young airport — it opened in March 2001 — is home to a museum of Korean culture, and has excellent rankings for cleanliness, external views, rest areas, internet access, and local food choices.

    1. Singapore Changi Airport (Yearly passengers: 51.2 million)

Why it's awesome: Changi is designed to alleviate the stress of travel, and offers passengers the chance to enjoy lots of greenery, an outdoor pool, and a butterfly garden.

For those who prefer to stay inside, it also houses movie theaters, spas, showers, and a four-story slide.

Looking for Top 20 Scariest and Horror Movies of All Time - List is Here for the best and top most 20 movies which were scary and horror.

    THE SHINING (1980)

    Directed by Stanley Kubrick

Kubrick's adaptation of Stephen King's novel about the Torrance family's headlong plunge into insanity during a secluded Colorado winter remains better known for its T-shirt quotables (''Heeeere's Johnny!''''All work and no play make Jack a dull boy'') than as a beautiful and pleasing horror film. It's a shame. With a haunting score, luscious, near-eternal Steadicam shots, and Jack Nicholson's grand pirouette into murderous madness at its heart, it's one of the most artful horror films in history.

    THE EXORCIST (1973)

    Directed by William Friedkin

A cat unexpectedly jumping from off camera is scary. But The Exorcist is so disturbing it will mess you up for months. Controversial and profane, The Exorcist remains the most viscerally harrowing movie ever made, not only because it dares to question the existence of God but because it has the cojones to put Satan in the body of a 12-year-old girl.

    THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974)

    Directed by Tobe Hooper

Truth is stranger than fiction...and it's a hell of a lot scarier, too. Based (like much ofPsycho) on the horrific ritual murders committed by Ed Gein, Chainsaw looks, feels, and smells so much like a grainy, low-budget documentary that it borders on snuff. Hooper says that when he settled on the film's title, ''I lost several friends. But I thought, they're putting so much energy into hating the title, maybe there's something there.'' Indeed there is; a copy of Chainsaw resides in the Museum of Modern Art.

THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (1991)

    Directed by Jonathan Demme

As Dr. Hannibal Lecter, Anthony Hopkins is a waking nightmare of seductive depravity — the sick, twisted serial killer America hates to love. Even with Hannibal the Cannibal safely locked away in his maximum-security cell, Jodie Foster's FBI trainee Clarice Starling is as helpless as a lamb. ''Great villains are subversive — audiences go and see them because they feel uncomfortably attracted to them,'' says Scott Glenn, who plays Starling's seen-it-all FBI mentor in Silence. ''To this day I still have nightmares about it.''

    JAWS (1975)

    Directed by Steven Spielberg.
''Is it true that most people get attacked by sharks in about three feet of water?'' When this doom-drenched gem — the highest-grossing film on our list — hit theaters, it gave new meaning to the phrase red tide. Weeks over schedule and dizzyingly over budget,Jaws caused Spielberg more than his share of headaches — especially due to his temperamental star. No, not Richard Dreyfuss, but Bruce, the 24-foot-long malfunctioning animatronic great white named after Spielberg's lawyer. ''The fact that the shark didn't work was an artistic blessing in disguise,'' says Spielberg. ''It forced me to be Hitchcockian.''

    THE RING (2002)

    Directed by Gore Verbinski

Few supernatural films have proven to be as unwittingly grounded in reality as The Ring. Released back when SARS was a particularly crappy Scrabble attempt and ''bird flu'' something that Heckle gave to Jeckle, The Ring has aged into a rare kind of thriller, one with frights that not only hold up years later, but are heightened, thanks to subsequent real-life events. With its virus-like ''villain'' (a mysterious tape that's passed from one victim to the next) and the slow-build physical deterioration it causes (nosebleeds, hallucinations), Gore Verbinski's box office hit now seems culturally clairvoyant in our disease-distressed times.

    HALLOWEEN (1978)

    Directed by John Carpenter

The original Halloween is, was, and ever shall be the alpha and omega of bogeyman flicks. It also remains one of the most profitable indie films of all time — costing a mere $300,000 and pulling in more than $55 million. The influence of Psycho (''It's the granddaddy of all horror movies,'' says Carpenter) is everywhere — from the tiniest details (Donald Pleasence's Dr. Sam Loomis is named after Janet Leigh's boyfriend inPsycho) to the casting of Jamie Lee Curtis as Halloween's shrieking heroine and babysitter in peril. ''It didn't hurt that Janet Leigh was her mom,'' says Carpenter, ''because everyone's a fan of Psycho.'' And Halloween.

    PSYCHO (1960)

    Directed by Alfred Hitchcock
A charter member of the scary movie hall of fame. Many of its most renowned features are readily apparent: those startling cuts (more than 50 in the shower sequence alone), Anthony Perkins' neurotic mama's boy, Bernard Herrmann's shrieking-violins score. ButPsycho's sneakiest tricks manifest themselves more subtlely. Take Hitchcock's decision to use a handful of different stabbers in Janet Leigh's slice-and-dice sequence: ''He kept changing it so the audience wouldn't be able to get a fix on Mother,'' Leigh, who spent seven days in that shower, told EW in 1999. ''At one point it was Tony's stand-in, at one point it was a woman. Never Tony.'' Bottom line: It still works.

    SEVEN (1995)

    Directed by David Fincher
From the jittery, scratched celluloid of its opening credits onward, Seven oozes more apocalyptic doom and deranged creativity than any Brad Pitt movie has a right to. Before this film came out, gluttonygreedslothenvywrathpride, and lust were just intangible words uttered in Sunday school. From its bleak, rainy setting to an unshakably grim finale, Seven is so nihilistic and disturbing it's hard to fathom how it ever got greenlit. We mean that as a compliment.

    ROSEMARY'S BABY (1968)

    Directed by Roman Polanski
More conspiracy thriller than horror movie, Baby nurses a mother lode of phobias. As Rosemary (Mia Farrow) slowly intuits she's been raped by Satan, she wrestles a myriad of believable demons: uncaring doctors, intrusive neighbors (primarily Ruth Gordon, who copped an Oscar), and a monstrously self-centered husband (John Cassavetes). Farrow's alarming enactment of emaciated desperation got a spur from then-husband Frank Sinatra's off-screen behavior: She was devastated when he initiated a divorce in mid-production.

    POLTERGEIST (1982)

    Directed by Tobe Hooper
Based on a story by Steven Spielberg, Poltergeist was released just one week beforeE.T., and it seemed like the latter movie's evil twin. Both were tales of suburban California families whose lives are upended by otherworldly invaders, but while E.T.seemed a Christian parable of death and resurrection, Poltergeist had a more sinister take on the afterlife. That three of the franchise's stars suffered untimely deaths led to talk of an off-screen curse, which surviving cast members dismiss and refuse to discuss, but which makes the film that much creepier.

    28 DAYS LATER (2003)

    Directed by Danny Boyle

Boyle's post-apocalyptic thriller pushed the envelope in two major ways. The first was its introduction of ''fast zombies.'' In almost all previous incarnations, the undead lumbered like slow-walking trees, arms raised at 90-degree angles, moaning for brains. But in 28 Days Later, they moved like rabid, caffeinated jackals. It was new, bold, utterly terrifying. Boyle's second twist was having his zombies not be zombies, per se, but infected people. When Cillian Murphy awakens in an abandoned hospital, the plague that's turned London into a no-man's-land isn't something out of a horror film we've seen a million times before; it's something far scarier.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984)

    Directed by Wes Craven
The screen debut of the character who gave striped sweaters a bad name, Nightmareintroduces a suburban monster who stalks teens while they sleep. Craven makes the most banal aspects of adolescence hellish, whether it's turning the sanctity of childhood bedrooms into murder zones or a phone into a demonic tongue. Freddy eventually turned into an all-too-jokey shadow of himself — but there's nothing funny about him in this first installment. Bonus: A young Johnny Depp gets eaten alive by a bed.

    THE THING (1982)

    Directed by John Carpenter

A loose remake of Howard Hawks' 1951 sci-fi Cold War allegory, Carpenter's Thing isn't concerned with messages; it's just a terrifying meditation on paranoia and subzero dread as a group of scientists at the South Pole (led by Kurt Russell) is infiltrated by an alien that assumes the bodies of its victims in very messy ways. And despite its many gross-out F/X, no moment in the movie is more unsettling than watching cuddly Quaker Oatmeal pitchman Wilford Brimley go insane. Carpenter is frankly surprised by the film's latter-day esteem. ''When The Thing was released,'' he says, ''it was one of the most hated movies of all time.'' Time to set the record straight.

    THE EVIL DEAD (1982)

    Directed by Sam Raimi

Before he was the webmaster of the Spider-Man franchise, Sam Raimi was a college dropout with $385,000 and a nightmare. Plotwise, The Evil Dead is just your basic ''kids at a remote cabin in the woods foolishly read forbidden book and unleash demons'' movie. But the result was a template for a generation of horror filmmakers, thanks to the wry Bruce Campbell (as ''Ash'' Williams, in the performance that made him a cult horror hero), those predatory trees, and Raimi's wickedly inventive direction. As he told EW, ''When we made Evil Dead, I wanted [viewers] to jump and scream and feel my wrath!'' We're still feeling it.

    CARRIE (1976)

    Directed by Brian De Palma
De Palma's adaptation of Stephen King's first novel is set in the lurid, oversexed world of high school, where persecuted telekinetic Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) transcends catty rivals and a psychotically religious mother (Piper Laurie) to become prom queen — only to be doused in pig's blood, go on a murderous rampage, and kill just about everyone. ''I got tricked into doing [Carrie],'' says Laurie, who, like Spacek, won an Oscar nomination. ''It seemed so over-the-top, I thought it was going to be a satire. When De Palma stopped me in rehearsals, my heart just dropped. Whoops!'' Pioneering moment: the best final scare ever. Period.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968)

    Directed by George A. Romero

The horror movie whose zombie escapades inspired a thousand more, Dead was filmed in black and white for about $100,000, some of which was reportedly contributed by lead actor Russell Streiner. Although the film, about radiation-poisoned corpses on the hunt for fresh meat, was made on the cheap (any flub in the sound was covered with the chirping of crickets), the total gross has been estimated to be as high as $50 million. Because of legal problems with the original distributor, the filmmakers saw only a tiny fraction of the grosses, inspiring a remake in 1990. Stick with the original — the Blair Witch Project of its day.

    THE OMEN (1976)

    Directed by Richard Donner

Someday, an enterprising film student will write a master's thesis on why the Nixon-Ford era spawned the cinematic unholy trinity of Rosemary's BabyThe Exorcist, and The Omen. Until then, let's just picture the last of those demon seeds, Damien (Harvey Stephens) — the tiny Antichrist with the 666 devil sign on his scalp — maniacally pedaling his tricycle and knocking Lee Remick over the second-floor railing to the menacing strains of ''Ave Satani.''''That boy was putty to direct...just a dream,'' says Donner, who adds, ''A lot of people were afraid to see The Omen because The Exorcistscared the s--- out of them so much.''

AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (1981)

    Directed by John Landis

Poor David Naughton. He seems to be starring in a madcap romantic comedy as an American backpacker who woos lovely British nurse Jenny Agutter. But then his zombie pal Griffin Dunne keeps reappearing, each time in a state of further decomposition, warning David that he must commit suicide before he becomes a werewolf at the next full moon. What a buzz kill. The movie's blend of comedy and horror isn't always successful, and its ending seems abrupt, but its scary parts are certainly scream-worthy. The werewolf attacks, shot from the predator's point of view, are chillers, but best is Naughton's excruciating, horrifyingly realistic transformation scene, maybe the best in any werewolf movie.

HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER (1990)

    Directed by John McNaughton

One of those horror movies where the low budget actually helps — lending a rough, documentary look to the proceedings — Henry follows the titular character and his hee-haw partner in homicide, Otis, on a spree that includes one nightmarish scene in which the two murder a helpless family, then sit back to watch a videotape of the crime. ''Once I was late for a screening and bumped into a lady running away from the movie,'' says Michael Rooker (Henry), ''and she ran smack into me and just screamed and screamed!''

Find who are the Worlds 10 Most Expensive Dog Breeds - List is here!!

Below you will find our countdown of the worlds most expensive dog breeds and also find out what the most expensive dog ever sold to date was…. This popular post has been fully updated for 2011.

The most popular dog breeds are not the worlds most expensive dog breeds, but the luxury dogs rate high in the top of the list. Popular dog breeds change from year to year and from country to country; and so do the most expensive dogs in the world.

    What Makes a Dog Expensive?

There are a variety of factors which make dogs expensive. Purity of breed or their rarity can make dogs extremely expensive. When they are offspring from prize winning dogs the prices can skyrocket too, but the biggest factor is the C-factor. As soon as a dog is spotted or photographed in possession of a celebrity, the dog’s price will shoot beyond the moon. It has happened in the past, and it will happen in the future.

The most expensive dog ever sold

The most expensive dog ever sold was recently in March 2011, a red “Tibetan mastiff” called Big Splash, or “Hong Dong” in Chinese. This most expensive dog ever is already 11 months-old and already stands nearly three-feet-high at the shoulder and weighs more than 180lbs, says his breeder, Lu Liang. He was purchased by a chinese multi-millionaire coal baron.

‘Big Splash’ sold for an amazing 10 million Yuan which is about 1.5 million US Dollars and beats the earlier record set by another Tibetan Mastiff Tibetan mastiff” called Yangtze River Number Two which was sold to a chinese woman in 2009 for a whopping 4 million Yuan (About $609,000). But this still doesn’t make the Tibetan Mastiff generally the most expensive dog breed.

How To Learn English Very Fast, an easy to learn manner

How do you learn English very fast? Every week, I get emails about this topic. Typically, someone writes and wants to know how they can speak fluently in only 2 or 3 months. Usually they are in a hurry because they have a test or an interview coming soon. Of course, its best not to wait until 2 months before your interview to think about this! But still, its an interesting question.

Is it possible to learn English very very fast?

Is it possible to make massive improvements in only 2-3 months?

The answer is yes. But of course, to make massive improvements requires massive intensity and effort. So, how can you do it? How can you improve super-fast? What do I recommend for this kind of goal?

    1. Obsession: The first and most important thing you need to achieve this goal is incredible passion. You must have tremendous emotional power to learn super-fast. Why? Because you must study English 8-14 hours a day… and every hour you must be alert, interested, and energetic. To improve that quickly, you must build emotion. You must be obsessed with English. You must be passionate and incredibly enthusiastic. Remember, Emotion is 80% of success, method is only 20%. To create passion, you need very compelling reasons to learn English.

Just doing well on a test is not a strong enough reason. Just getting a new job is not a strong enough reason. You need HUGE reasons for doing this. Imagine all the incredible benefits you will have as a fluent English speaker. Imagine how your life will change 5 years from now. 10 years from now. 20 years from now. If you are motivated by money, imagine how English will make you amazingly rich. Visualize your dream house, your dream car, your dream life. If love motivates you, imagine how English will help you meet incredible people from other countries.

Imagine dating beautiful/handsome foreigners! Imagine incredible love and passion– possible because you are a fluent English speaker. You can also exaggerate the terrible things that will happen if you fail to speak English fluently. Imagine all the jobs you will miss. Imagine all the people you will never meet. Imagine how bad your life will be because you can’t speak English.

Make your reasons bigger! Bigger reasons = Bigger Passion. Bigger Passion = Bigger Success. Emotions is the key. Make your emotion stronger! Become obsessed with English!

    2. Massive Input:The second key to super-fast learning and incredible intensity is to focus on English INPUT. Do not waste time studying grammar or vocabulary. Don’t waste time trying to speak. You should spend all of your time either listening or reading. This is the fastest and most efficient method for speaking English fluently. Carry your iPod everywhere. Always have a book with you.

Specifically, you should listen mostly to the Mini-Story Lessons, the Point of View Lessons, and the Main Audio Articles. These are the most powerful lessons and will help you learn the fastest. You should read easy English novels– starting with novels for children. Absolutely do not waste time reading textbooks!

    3. Massive Intensity: To be fluent in only 2-3 months, you must create massive intensity. In other words, you have to listen and read 8-14 hours a day, every day. You must listen constantly to English. You must read constantly. In fact, I recommend alternating the two activities.

Listen for an hour, then read a novel for an hour. Then listen again for an hour. Then another hour of novel reading. If you are really focused on speaking well, do more listening. But don’t worry, reading will also help your speaking ability.

So that’s it. That’s my simple method for very fast English fluency. Of course, most people do not need to improve so quickly. For most people, two hours a day of listening and reading is enough. But if you need or want to improve very quickly, follow this plan. Good luck!

Microsoft CEO: Microsoft board close to naming India-born Nadella as new CEO

    $

    0
NEW YORK/SEATTLE (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp(NSQ:MSFT - News) is likely to appoint its cloud-computing head, Satya Nadella, as its next chief executive, a source familiar with the matter said on Thursday, as the board concludes a five-month search for a tech-savvy heavy-hitter to lead the world's largest software company.

As part of the move, co-founder Bill Gates may step aside as chairman and be replaced by lead independent director John Thompson, said the source, speaking on condition of anonymity because the process is private. Gates would remain a director, the source added.

Bloomberg first reported the news on Thursday.

Rising star Nadella, a native of Hyderabad - where Microsoft has its largest non-U.S. research center - was promoted to run the company's fast-expanding cloud, or internet-based, computing initiatives in July last year as part of current CEO Steve Ballmer's radical re-organization of the company.

The appointment of the 22-year Microsoft veteran would make him the most powerful Indian-born tech executive in the world and put him alongside PepsiCo Inc's (NYS:PEP - News) chief, Indra Nooyi, as the leader of a well-known, large-cap U.S. corporation.

Born in 1967 and educated in India and the United States, Nadella's tech career started at internet software pioneer Sun Microsystems. He joined Microsoft in 1992 and quickly climbed the corporate ladder with leading roles in the Office and Bing search-engine teams.

He was promoted to run the company's server and tools unit in 2011. That unit now forms the backbone of Microsoft's cloud-computing platform, which Nadella runs under his official title of executive vice president, cloud and enterprise.

"He's a solid choice," offering continuity of strategy and proven execution, said Sid Parakh, an analyst at fund firm McAdams Wright Ragen.

Some investors had campaigned for an external CEO who might be more likely to shake up the company and reward shareholders with greater dividends and share buybacks, but Parakh said that did not mean Nadella would be unpopular with Wall Street.

"Any new CEO is going to have to have the shareholders' say in mind. But it's not certain that will translate into actions," said Parakh.

If Nadella is named CEO, it is likely Thompson will help out on the crucial task of managing Microsoft's relations with its powerful Wall Street investors, the source said.

Nadella has little experience of that aspect of the job, and Ballmer and Gates did not prioritize it. Gates would likely focus on technical innovation in any new role, the source said.

There have been calls for months for Gates to step down from investors who believe Microsoft's co-founder is a block to radical change and investor-friendly moves.

Ballmer, who plans to retire as soon as a new CEO is named, was reelected to the board in November, but it is not clear how long he will remain there after retirement, the source said.

Several people briefed on the CEO search process had previously told Reuters that Microsoft was down to a handful of candidates, including Nadella and Tony Bates, executive vice-president of business development, plus at least one external candidate.

The board still has not met to finalize Nadella's offer and nothing has been signed, the source said. Microsoft declined to comment.

Microsoft shares rose 0.8 percent to $37.15 after hours, after gaining slightly in regular Nasdaq trading.
    LONG SEARCH

Microsoft's CEO search has taken longer than most expected when Ballmer said last August he would retire within a year.

In a blog post on the company's website in December, Thompson emphasized the need for a CEO with "an ability to lead a highly technical organization and work with top technical talent".

Thompson, who leads the four-member CEO search committee, said at the time he expected the panel to reach a decision "in the early part of 2014".

The appointment of a company veteran like Nadella, which follows a flirtation with outsiders such as Ford Motor Co (F.N) Chief Executive Alan Mulally, could disappoint some investors who want a more radical transformation at the software giant.

"While many on the Street are now expecting Mr. Nadella to get the CEO spot, we believe filling this position with a core Microsoft insider will disappoint those hoping for a fresh strategic approach (e.g. potential breakup of enterprise/consumer, Xbox spin off) an outside executive could have brought to the table," FBR analyst Daniel Ives said in a research note, adding that innovation and fresh strategies were needed.

"With that said, we believe Mr. Nadella's prior roles in the Online Services Division, Business Division and most recently as president of the Server and Tools business position him as a strong internal candidate with a broad set of knowledge around Microsoft's massive product portfolio," Ives wrote.

10 Most Expensive Currency In The World

    $

    By James Marsh

This is the current list dated 16th September'2014 and is ranked per their value against US Dollar. Most valuable currency doesn't necessarily mean that the currency is better investment option or that it represents a better economic health of a nation. Please find below the list of expensive currency in their order of expensiveness:

    1. Kuwaiti Dinar (1 KWD= 3.49 USD)

In an area slightly smaller than New Jersey, lies the home of the world’s most valuable currency. Kuwait has been involved in talks this year with five other Gulf Arab monarchies to form a single currency. The Kuwait currency is currently pegged to the dollar.

    2. Bahrain Dinar (1 BHD= 2.65 USD)

A small island nation, approximately 3.5 times the size of Washington DC, Bahrain is geographically central in relation to its Persian Gulf neighbors. Its industry relies on petroleum production and refining, as well as financial services and construction. With an exchange rate to the US dollar at around $2.65 for one Bahraini Dinar, it’s the third most valuable currency in the world. It’s also expected to be relatively steady, as it was officially pegged to the dollar in 2001.

    3. Omani Rial (1 OMR = 2.60 USD)

Oman, officially called the Sultanate of Oman, is an Arab state in southwest Asia on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It has a strategically important position at the mouth of the Persian Gulf., has had its currency exchange rate pegged to the dollar at a rate of 1 OMR = $2.60 US since 1986. With that pegged relationship holding firm, seems as though the Rial’s fate remains tied to the fate of the dollar.

    4. Latvian Lats (1 LVL= 1.84 USD)

One Lats is currently worth $1.97 US. The country, about the size of West Virginia, has entered the process to phase out the Lat in favor of the Euro, which is expected to be the official currency around 2012.

    5. UK Pound Sterling (1 GBP = 1.62 USD)

This holiday season, it seems now more than ever, citizens of the UK are taking advantage of their favorable exchange rate and coming to the US, where for them everything is half-off.

    6.  Jordanian Dinar (1 JOD =1.41 USD)

Jordan may lack water and crude oil but the Mideast kingdom has one thing going for it – a strong currency. From 1927 to 1950, the Palestine Currency Board issued Palestine pound as the official currency in both Palestine and the Trans-Jordan Emirate, according to Wikipedia. When Jordan became independent in 1946, the country wanted its own currency and Jordanian dinar became the kingdom’s official currency.

    7. European Euro (1 EUR = 1.29 USD)

Officially introduced in 1999, the multinational Euro didn’t begin changing hands until January 2001. After a rocky start, the Euro has gained on the dollar for years. The currency is the official currency of eurozone that comprises of 17 countries. Some these include Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain. The currency is the second largest reserve currency as also the second most traded in the world.

    8. Azerbaijan Manat (1 Manat = 1.28 USD)

After gaining independence in 1991, Azerbaijan became a member of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Islamic Development Bank and the Asian Development Bank. The banking system of Azerbaijan consists of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, commercial banks and non-banking credit organizations.

    9. Cayman Islands Dollar (1 KYD = 1.22 USD)

With no direct taxation, the islands thrive as an offshore financial center, with hundreds of banks, insurers and mutual funds. One Cayman Islands Dollar equals $1.22 US. The earlier currency used in Cayman Islands was Jamaican dollar, which was replaced in 1972. On the islands, the US dollar is accepted as legal currency.

    10. Switzerlandfranc (1 Franc = 1.07 USD)

Switzerland has a stable, prosperous and high-tech economy. In 2011, it was ranked as being the wealthiest country in the world in per capita terms (with 'wealth' being defined to include both financial and non-financial assets). It has the world's nineteenth largest economy by nominal GDP and the thirty-sixth largest by purchasing power parity. It is the twentieth largest exporter, despite its size. Switzerland has the highest European rating in the Index of Economic Freedom 2010, while also providing large coverage through public services.
